                   Literally Homeless

                 What does that mean?

The State of North Carolina and the United States Department of Housing & Urban Development define literal homelessness as: "The individual's or family's primary nighttime residence is a public or private place not meant for human habitation:' This includes abandoned buildings, places with no plumbing or electricity, outside on the street, in tents or in a vehicle.

While a person may be homeless and couch-surfing between family and friends, that doesn't meet the definition of literal homelessness.
